Melissa Farrior is an American singer-songwriter, based out of Nashville, TN. She was born in San Diego, CA and made the move toward LA after high school. She has been performing and honing her craft as a singer for over 10 years. She started her music career in Southern California as a co-lead singer of a Country band and has since clocked countless hours on the stage playing both covers and original music.
Melissa’s first, self-titled EP was released in 2017 within the Alternative-Country genre. She has since moved on to creating music in the Americana/Soul sphere and has tapped into her true voice. She has a wide range of musical influences from different aspects of musical composition. She is inspired by songwriters such as Carol King, John Prine, and Joni Mitchell, while drawing tonality and stylistic influences from Suzanne Santo, Etta James, Susan Tedeschi, Stevie Nicks and Joy Williams. She first discovered her love for singing at the young age of 5, thanks to her very talented, Opera singing mother.
Due to her musical upbringing and the talented musicians she had the privilege of surrounding herself with, Melissa incorporates many different elements into her sound. She pairs her Americana/Soul style with a sultry vocal tone and bluesy instrumentation. This combination allows her to float between genres with a subtle edginess expressed through her lyrics and performance style. Melissa’s new EP, Gypsy Love was released on August 4th, 2023 and is available on all streaming platforms. She is already back in the studio, working on her next project so keep an eye out for Melissa as she continues to release new music and add tour dates throughout the year.
